Formation
Cyclone Yasi formed north over Fiji. The Fiji Meteorological Service named cyclone Yasi for the fact that Fiji was where it was formed. Cyclone Yasi was category 5, which is the biggest, most destructive cyclone level (1=Weakest, 5=Strongest).
The Eye of cyclone Yasi in its mature stage was around 100km in diameter & the speeds of winds were 290km/h.

On Land
At About 5pm (AEST) 31st January, Cyclone Yasi was category 3. Late February 1st, Cyclone Yasi Strengthened to a category 4. Early 2nd February the cyclone intensified to a category 5 Tropical Cyclone. It hits near mission beach in the early hours of February 3rd and heads for Mount Isa.

Aftermath
Cyclone Yasi had finally dropped down from a category 5 cyclone, to a severe rain depression, and occurred around Mount Isa. Cyclone Yasi had cause flash floods, and minor Land slides in north Queensland. Fortunately, no one was directly killed by cyclone Yasi, but a 23-year-old man was indirectly suffocated by his generator exhaust fumes. Cyclone Yasi cost 3.6 Billion dollars in damage repairs. This cyclone was the second deadliest storm in the season, after Bianca, But Cyclone Yasi still remained biggest and more of a disaster.
